Rev. Dr. Joshua R. Farris

Rev. Joshua Farris is an accomplished theologian, mentor, and coach with extensive expertise across a wide range of disciplines. He is a church planter of New Streams Anglican Church. His theological work spans key areas such as the atonement, theological anthropology, the afterlife, consciousness, Near-Death Experiences (NDEs), and dementia, making him a valuable resource for anyone interested in deep theological inquiry (see his public work in Soul Science Ministries). Dr. Farris brings interdisciplinary insight to his work, engaging the intersection of theology, history, philosophy, science, and technology, particularly in understanding the human person.

Joshua R. Farris is a prolific author and scholar, having published 11 books, nearly 70 academic articles, and over 50 popular pieces in blogs, magazines, and other platforms. His notable books include The Soul of Theological Anthropology (Routledge), The Creation of Self (Iff), Humanizing AI, The Banquet of Souls, and An Introduction to Theological Anthropology (Baker Academic), a key textbook in the field–among others. He co-edited Being Saved: Explorations in Human Salvation (SCM Press), which examines theological concepts of salvation across different traditions. Farris has also edited special issues in academic journals and served as a referee for major university and academic presses such as Oxford University Press and Cambridge University Press. His academic focus spans across theological anthropology, the relationship between science and theology, and public theology. Additionally, Farris has designed around 30 courses, including a comprehensive series on Science and Theology, making significant contributions to theological education.
